Dolly Parton And Shawn Johnson Are Among Celebrities Sharing Support After Nashville Tornadoes

Celebrities who share special ties to the Nashville community are reaching out with love and support. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a powerful storm ripped through central Tennessee. The Nashville tornadoes have left a great deal of damage in their wake. At least 22 people have died as a result.

As the community begins looking at what it will take to get back on their feet, celebrities are eager to help. Not only does the area have cultural significance to the country music scene, but many celebs also call it home. Many celebrities have spoken out to let fans know they are safe. Many more are hoping to make a difference in a community that means so much to so many.

Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Shawn Johnson, and more have shared messages of prayer and support. Keep your eyes on these stars' social media profiles, as they're looking to share the lastest ways to help a reeling community recover.

In Nashville, a community is reeling. Early Tuesday morning, a powerful storm impacted central Tennessee. Three tornadoes spawned from the storm, leaving behind extreme property damage and loss of life. On the ground, they're still assessing the damage.

Dolly Parton took to her social media platforms to share a message. She was in Tennessee during the storm.

"Well I'm here on the job today because as they say, the show must go on," Dolly began the video.

"But we had a lot of damage out in our area. I know a lot of Nashville was just devastated with the storms, and I just wanted all of you to know that we are all with you, and hope that your family's OK and your properties will be able to get mended pretty soon."

"Just wanted you to know that you're being thought of and we love you, and sorry that it all happened to all of us, but hopefully we're OK," Dolly added. "To those who really lost family members, sorry about that, and our prayers are with you. Just wanted to shout out and say we're with you."

Shawn Johnson, along with her husband, Andrew East, started a GoFundMe where they are matching donations. They have raised over $11,000 of their $50,000 goal. The couple has lived in Nashville for 7 years.

"This fund is to help the individuals and families affected by the deadly tornadoes that ripped through Nashville TN on March 3, 2020. There have been 19 casualties, dozens of homes destroyed, and hundreds of others affected," it reads. "This fund is to help get those affected back on their feet as soon as possible. All funds are expected to go to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee."

Carrie Underwood was in New York for a Today show appearance. Her husband, Mike Fisher, was home in Nashville with their two sons: 5-year-old Isaiah and 1-year-old Jacob.

"I think that's what everyone's doing right now is assessing [the damage]," she said. "And I'm texting people I know, and I'm asking my husband, 'Everybody's good?' He said he had to go upstairs at 2 a.m. and get our boys to take them down to the safe room we have in our house. I was like, 'I bet everybody was crying.'"

Kelsea Ballerini was ready to get helping this morning. "Oh nashville.  very sad morning. how do we start to help?" she tweeted to fans. "Point me in the right direction and let’s start helping and healing."

Kacey Musgraves hopped online to let fans know she was safe. "Me and my fam are safe but many friends aren’t so lucky," she tweeted.

"We did live right in one of the worst hit spots a matter of months ago. It’s so crazy. I’m so nervous to find out who the fatalities are. Nashville is so tight knit.  I’m gonna help in any way I can."

Maren Morris revealed that she was very narrowly missed by the storms. "The tornado must have missed our block by an inch because we are alright but I am so depleted looking at the damage that has happened to our beautiful city," she tweeted. "There are so many people in the streets helping already, though. Thinking of those who lost their loved ones + homes."

Miley Cyrus also reported that she was safe. She's also boosting important information on her Happy Hippie Foundation accounts.

"Thinking about my home and family in Nashville and how fortunate I am that my place and loved ones have remained safe in these deadly tornados," she shared. "My heart is broken for my home state. So much loss and damage. We are #NashvilleStrong and will rebuild together!"

Reba McEntire also shared positive thoughts. "My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to everyone in the Nashville area affected by the tornado last night," she wrote. "Even if the tornado didn’t hit our personal space, we are all affected because we are Nashvillians. My heart hurts for Nashville this morning. #sendingprayers."
