It Was Just An Average National Anthem, Until This Girl With Cerebral Palsy Blew Them Away!

It’s always incredible to read stories of youths who’ve overcome many hurdles and have persevered despite unthinkable odds.

It’s not every day you hear that a child taught herself to play piano at the ripe old age of two years old, as Marlana VanHoose did. Now a teen and something of a musical prodigy, Marlana’s music may be familiar to any readers of ESPN, who recently ran a story on her extraordinary talent and semi-frequent appearances at sporting events to sing the National Anthem.

But the real inspiration behind Marlana’s story is that she’s blind and living with cerebral palsy. She was given a year to live after her birth, but much like other inspiring stories of overcoming the odds with cerebral palsy, she refuses to give up.

“Marlana has invited Jesus into her heart and has been baptized,” she writes on her blog. “She loves God very much and says she has no need to see here on earth. She knows that when she gets to Heaven, Jesus will be the first face she’ll see.”

Performing at Rand Paul’s Presidential Announcement Event, the teen blew away the audience with her performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner."
