In this day and age, there are still many people who are made uncomfortable when mothers start breastfeeding their babies in public. Perhaps it's “indecent exposure” that bothers them, or other aspects of nursing that push them to tell mothers to “cover up.” But whatever it may be, nursing mothers are fighting back: Not only is breastmilk considered to be generally the best for the infant, but that the act bonds a mother and her child by the first moments after birth.
But moms don't have to be the only ones who understand just how important breastfeeding a child is. One mom was sitting in a Chipotle restaurant with some friends when she understood just how many others sympathized with her.
Her baby got hungry, so she started breastfeeding in the restaurant.
The dining room happened to be packed with college students, and one female student ran up to her and her friends. Without a word, she left a gift card on the table. On it was a note, which took the mother pleasantly by surprise.

A mother sat down with some friends at a Chipotle, where there happened to be many college students.

A female student suddenly ran up to her and left a gift card on the table. She left without a word.

On it, she had written, "Thank you for breastfeeding in public — helping reduce the stigma for future moms like me. You rock!"

Facebook page peaceful parenting posted the photo, and it has received many positive and supportive comments.

Many of the commenters tell their own positive stories of how they too were encouraged by strangers to breastfeed in public.

Hopefully, mothers who hesitate to nurse their babies in public will have the courage to do so after seeing so many strangers being so open to it!
