Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are expecting their fourth child together! Chrissy announced the news on her Instagram page, writing that she's been hesitant to share the update publicly but that she finally feels ready. The happy update comes nearly two years after Chrissy and John lost their third child, a son named Jack, at 20 weeks gestation.
Chrissy began the post, "The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again."
She continues by adding that she's undergone at least one medical intervention during the pregnancy. "1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way. Every appointment I’ve said to myself, 'ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce' but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still."
Chrissy adds, "I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!"
In September 2020, Chrissy and John suffered the devastating loss of their son Jack at only 20 weeks gestation. Much to the surprise of some, both were open about the experience. John later told The Guardian that it felt important to share their story, saying, "It was raw, sharing our experience. I was worried but our instinct was to do it because people knew we were pregnant and Chrissy felt like she needed to tell the story completely about what happened."
He continued, "Also, we found out how many other families have gone through this. It was a powerful and brave thing that Chrissy did to share that because it made so many people feel like they were seen and that they weren’t alone."
Their fourth baby will join older siblings Luna and Miles, who recently completed a European tour alongside their mom and dad. The pair appear close, but Chrissy has explained that they have pretty distinct personalities. As she told Romper in 2018 of Miles, "He loves the quiet moments. He loves story time, but Luna was just such a bull. From the moment she came out, you just knew she was going to be such a Luna — just a nut case."
Chrissy had previously shared that she was undergoing IVF yet again back in February 2022 in response to fan questions about her body. As she noted, she had appeared bloated in recent photos due to the treatment. Chrissy said, "I posted about it in my stories, but I wanted to let you guys know I’m balls deep in another IVF cycle to save as many eggos as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos. I honestly don’t mind the shots…they make me feel like a doctor/chemist."
She went on to add, "I humbly beg you to stop asking if I’m pregnant, because while I know it’s said with excited, good intentions, it just kind of sucks to hear because I am the opposite of pregnant!"
Happily, IVF appears to have worked for the two. While there's been no indication of when Chrissy might be due, it's clear from her update that she's well on her way.
