Church Donates Thousands To Help Students Pay For Lunch

There are hundreds of students who qualify for free or reduced price lunches, but then there are thousands more who don't. Many of those families struggle to pay for their children's school lunch every day.

As we've seen before, students have been reprimanded, humiliated, and turned away hungry in front of their peers when they don't have the money on them. In fact, many families end up owing debts in the hundreds to the schools. Pastor Jonathan Brozozog decided to do something about it.

His church began a program called School Lunch Matters to help struggling families in the Osseo Area School District. Every month, the church will donate $1,500 so that no child goes unfed. So when a child is in line and can't afford to pay, the cafeteria worker doesn't have to send them away or put their families in debt!

"I just think with all the things underprivileged kids have to worry about, what if the one thing they don't have to worry about was lunch?" Brozozog pointed out to Fox News.

Currently, there is a $12,000 unpaid balance in the district. Slowly, the pastor will pay this off and offer some families financial relief.

"We don't need to go to another country to meet a need, there's a need right in the same room," he said.

Thank goodness someone is stepping in to make sure every child gets the meal they're entitled to. Has your child ever been turned away at the school cafeteria? Let us know in the comments!
