Mom Is Outraged When Daughter Is Singled Out For Being Different In School Photo

Amanda Lubiewski was looking forward to seeing her daughter Abby's school picture. However, when she got the picture back, she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Abby, who is special needs, was photographed without her glasses and is visibly uncomfortable.

Without her glasses, Abby can only see light and dark shades. The 3-year-old was born with cataracts due to a genetic condition called Hallermann-Streiff.

"I knew then that she couldn’t see, and I couldn’t quite comprehend what would be going through someone’s mind to ask her to take those off," Amanda explained to FOX.

The mother believes Abby was singled out because she is different. Other children with glasses weren't asked to remove them.

"She was treated differently than other children in the school," Amanda says. “It’s not just about getting a cute picture of her. It’s how she was treated, and how it seems like she was treated differently because there was a part of her that was difficult to photograph.”

The photographer says they couldn't take photo with the glasses because of the glare, but other children had glasses, too. Fortunately, when the company got word of the news, they apologized to Amanda and Abby, and decided to redo the photos for free.

“We should have never had your daughter remove her glasses for the photo… We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind on our team," the company said.
