Jamie Francis and Aimee Ramos-Price had a beautiful baby boy, Colby, and noticed immediately that he had a pink, heart-shaped birthmark above his eye. Well, at least that's what they thought it was.
Doctors didn't realize there was something more behind it until his six-week checkup.
The assumed birthmark had grown in size and darkened in color, and it became clear that this was something much more serious.
Colby's doctors referred his family to a specialist, but by the time they got their appointment it had only gotten worse, breaking open and bleeding at times.
Then, even the specialists couldn't figure out how to help him. So Jamie, Aimee, and Colby flew to America. There they found Little Baby Face Foundation, a charity that helps families and children who are born with facial deformities.
Dr. Thomas Romo III, one of the founders of the organization, decided to help the family — anything needed would be taken care of and paid for.
A team of surgeons got together and took Colby into surgery, aiming to remove the tumor and make sure Colby didn't lose sight in that right eye.
As Jamie and Aimee got emotional before surgery, little Colby looked like a trooper. After his struggle, little Colby made it out of surgery a success story. He will have to have another surgery, but he already has changed so much. His parents are so happy about the results, and Colby seems it too!
Let's all hope that things only go up from here!
