After responding to an alarm call, Officer Britt Thomas spotted two kids playfully sword fighting across the street. The officer from the Madison Police Department in Mississippi whipped out his baton and decided to jump in on the fun.
One of the children later told his mom about the unexpected adventure. The mom, Renee Smith Mader, immediately contacted Madison's mayor, Mary Hawkins Butler, to find out which police officer it was.
Not only did she find out who the officer was, Mader also got to see the action since Sgt. Amy Devine, who was with Officer Thomas at the time, filmed the moment.
Mayor Butler sent the video over to Mader, who shared it on her Facebook page. The adorable clip started going viral (much like the time a North Carolina police officer danced with residents at a block party!)
"We are so blessed to live in such a great community!" the mom wrote. "Thank you MPD and Mayor Mary for taking care of our community in so many ways!"
Sgt. Devine also commented on the post, writing, "We enjoy our service to the community and meeting the wonderful citizens, of all ages."
