Planning a wedding may seem stressful to many of us. There are so many details to remember and organize!
But most women relish the idea of wedding planning, and when they get engaged, they know they can shape this day to be the one they always dreamed of.
But for Amber Lickteig, planning her wedding was no walk in the park — she had to have it come together much more quickly than she thought.
In fact, it only took a total of 18 hours for the entire ceremony to be planned out. That was enough time for Amber and her high school sweetheart Justin.
What was important was that her father could be there. Stage 4 cancer confined him to a hospital bed, and it was likely that he wouldn't live for very long, and wouldn't make it to the November date of their wedding.
But thanks to the hospital staff, good-hearted volunteers, and generous donations, the couple was able to have the ceremony with the bride's dying father present. Though his sickness had already taken a serious turn for the worst, his wish to be at his daughter's wedding was fulfilled.
The wedding venue didn't matter; all that was important was that the entire family could share these last moments with him, and be able to remember this beautiful ceremony with him as a part of it.
