Couple Won Dream Home On ‘Extreme Makeover’ Then Immediately Abandon Their 5 Adopted Kids

Devonda and James Friday of Charlotte, North Carolina had seven children. Five of the kids were adopted — biological siblings who were so excited and grateful for their forever family that they changed their last names to Friday. "We made a vow to keep the siblings together," James once said.

In 2011, Devonda and James submitted their story to "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" for a home renovation that would accommodate their growing family. "Extreme Makeover, we desperately need you," James begged in their audition tape.

The Fridays won the bidding and their modest home was renovated into a beautiful eight-bedroom mansion. Not only that, but producers created a store for the couple's nonprofit where they could operate, and donated funds and gift cards.

"I felt like they were my mom and dad," one of the adopted children told Channel 9. "I loved them like they were my real parents."

But within a year of winning their gorgeous mansion, all five adopted children were mysteriously gone from the house, never to return…
