It’s easy to let life get you down. For instance, take some of the major events of the 1960s — the Vietnam War, a presidential assassination, the Cuban Missile Crisis — this all happened within 10 years!
But, because this crazy trip of a decade was lava-lamp-lit by the power of peace and love, the '60s was also a really groovy time, man. In fact, a man walked on the moon! The Civil Rights Act was signed, the Peace Corps were established, and let's not forget about the big hair, the big dance crazes, and, of course, its big heart.
It was a time when Americans really knew how to flip a negative into a positive. And people who lived during the '60s seem to exude this philosophy in their everyday lives.
Case in point: Reddit user inexplorata. What happened when life gave him free parts from a lemon of a Volkswagen Beetle? He made lemonade.
Inexplorata’s daughter was outgrowing her crib — a problem most parents experience — so he grabbed the free VW parts, flashed his problem a big ole peace sign, and built his daughter one mean machine…
It all started when inexplorata got a pile of old Super Beetle parts on Craigslist for free.

For the project, he also nabbed a twin bunk bed from Craigslist for $25. “Dirty rag not included,” he wrote.

He cut 4x4 posts to fit the legs because he wanted his final product to be taller.

A bed’s new boost!

He then built the frame for the part of this bed that truly makes it magical.

The basic structure was completed.

He then added doors on one side of the bed with simple hardware store hinges.

Holes for windows were then cut.

Authentic hubcaps installed! This hip baby is going to be sleeping in style!

A little “eyebrow” in the front was added for the perfect effect.

The “sleeping car” was then painted.

Figured out what this is yet? Yeah? …Well, you won’t believe what else he did!

Inside, he added a kiddie-sized hammock, because he always wanted one as a boy. His daughter loved it.

This cool interior also has buttons that make driving sound effects, like the horn. Little LEDs go off inside the speedometer too!

Too much, Magic Bus! The final result: his little girl loved her groovy new big-girl bed!
