We love seeing animal rescues. What wholesome animal lover doesn't, right? Seeing an animal in trouble is heart-wrenching, so seeing someone take the time to go the extra mile to help free that animal is one of the coolest things a person can do.
In this video, Darren Villano and his sons were out in the woods of Locust Shade Park near Quantico, VA doing some geocaching. It was supposed to be a fun, stress-free day out in the park, but little did Villano and his kiddos know, they would soon come across a very strange sight: a deer caught in some type of rope tied to a tree.
As you can see in the video, it appears the deer's antlers have become entangled in some rope that someone had left tied around a small tree out in the woods. The problem, however, is that the deer can't seem to free itself from the rope and every move it makes appears to make the trap tighter and tighter.
"Had to think fast!" Villano says in the YouTube video description.
And think fast they did. The father and his sons quickly rigged a contraption that might save the poor deer. They took a long tree limb, Villano's pocketknife, and a shoelace; tied the knife to the tree; and Dad slowly crept over toward the deer to try to cut the rope, freeing the little guy.
Smart move, David. It's clear from the video that the deer is already agitated, and had the father decided to try to cut the rope up close, he could easily have been attacked. Instead, he takes his time, uses the long tree limb, and cuts the deer free.
It's a beautiful moment that David and his sons will surely remember for the rest of their lives. Way to go, guys!
