This Deployed Dad Travels 22 Hours To Meet His Newborn Daughter!

National Guard soldier John Vorrath was stationed in the Middle East at the time that his wife gave birth to their daughter Charlotte, as he had not received clearance to be there in person.

Although he was able to watch the birth live using an iPad, the homesick soldier father traveled 22 hours back to his hometown in Ames, IA to reunite with his wife, two-year-old son, and meet his baby girl for the first time, WTVR CBS6 News reports.

The reunion was a sweet surprise filled with emotion.

15 minutes later, John surprised his two-year-old son, who he hadn't seen since his deployment. "You're so big!" he told his son.
