This DIY Dad Built The Most Adorable Activity Wall For His Daughter

One of my favorite things about having nieces and nephews is getting to spoil them with presents.

And whenever possible, I like to give them fun and adorable DIY projects rather than less personal store-bought gifts.

I am constantly on the lookout for cool project ideas, like this incredible DIY treehouse bed. And when I spotted this amazing idea for a DIY gift, I knew I had to take a closer look.

This DIY dad started off by creating a frame for the activity wall with wooden 2×4 boards.

He added a chipboard base, reinforcing it with an extra 2×4.

Adding a second, more child-friendly board of wood overtop of the chipboard, he used a whole bottle of wood glue to secure it.

Utilizing whatever he had laying around the house, this DIYer loaded on the heavy weights, adding pressure while the wood glue dried overnight.

He then gave the wood five coats of this fun, kid-friendly orange-yellow color that he and his wife picked out together.

When the paint finally dried, this dad added colorful alphabet stickers, number stickers, shapes, and strategically-placed cutouts.

The stickers and paint were then covered with eight layers of MiniWax Polycrylic, to seal in the stickers and to ensure that the activity wall was non-toxic and safe for his daughter.

This thrifty dad reused the insides of a toy piano his daughter didn't play with to add an extra interactive level to the activity wall.

The wires were hooked up on the inside to yellow, red, and blue LED lights, activated by a light switch.

He even installed an extra on-off switch that remained out of reach of his daughter, so that he and his wife could turn off the electricity whenever the wall wasn't in use.

This dad also secured a PVC pipe on the inside of the wall so that his daughter could push small balls through one hole, causing them to come out of the other. This DIYer said that this was his favorite part of the activity wall!

To finish things off, this DIYer decided to create mini door flaps in different fun shapes. He formed them out of non-toxic, child-friendly plastic so they'd be safe for his baby to be around.

Using a program online, he created stencils that would perfectly match the shapes already drawn onto the activity wall.

His wife then helped out by sewing colorful and fuzzy fabric to cover the plastic shapes, before he attached them to the wall.
