DIY Dad Creates Adorable Computer Area For His Kids

Homemade gifts allow us to share an incredibly personal and unique part of ourselves with the people we love.

Putting in time, effort, and imagination to create the perfect gift can be so much more satisfying than a store-bought present.

So whenever possible, I look for new DIY projects that I could potentially make for my loved ones, like this activity wall made by a DIY dad for his one-year-old daughter.

And when I spotted what this father created for his kids, I was absolutely blown away.

I found this project on Imgur from user Possumism. His children wanted their own computer stations right next to where their dad works and plays on his computer. And when the kids asked him for the computer stations to be Hello Kitty and dragon-themed, this DIY dad got right to work.

Scroll through below to see how this super dad built the perfect computer area for his kids using a little skill, a bit of imagination, and a whole lot of love.

This DIY dad decided that in order to create a truly amazing computer area for his kids, he would have to transform the room, starting with a coat of crisp white paint to cover the beige walls.

"That's my own computer setup to the left," the dad wrote on Imgur.

While he kept his area fairly plain, he had much bigger plans for his children.

For one of the stations, he sketched out the shape of dragons' wings in pencil on a 4×4 plywood board, which only cost him $15.

Using a jigsaw, he carefully cut out the shape, making sure that the wings didn't look too much like bat wings.

Using Elmer's Wood Filler, he filled in the grain on the wings and head of the dragon.

This DIYer followed the same steps for his daughter's Hello Kitty-themed station. He cut Hello Kitty's head out of plywood and cut a part in the middle for her computer to sit.

After smoothing out the grain, he then painted the wood with primer, remembering to also make a cutout for Hello Kitty's famous hair bow.

Using a foam roller to avoid brush marks, he painted the dragon and Hello Kitty a bright white color.

He covered the white paint with a clear spray enamel. Before even being hung on the walls, the pieces were already extremely eye-catching.

After mounting the shapes on the wall, this DIY dad installed LED lights behind the wood to create a truly beautiful effect.

Everything was perfect, down to the last detail  with Hello Kitty's bow painted pink, and the wall covered with butterfly stickers that only cost $11.

His kids absolutely loved their adorable computer station setups. Now they can play games and use their computers right with their father.
