A lot of the time, folks can be pretty insensitive when it comes to people with disabilities. Whether it's a physical handicap that keeps them from being able to walk or talk, or a mental handicap that makes it hard to assert themselves into certain situations, there will always be those who just don't understand.
People with disabilities, at their cores, are no different from the able-bodied or those without a mental handicap.
DJ, a witty, smart, and outgoing teenager, is always at the ready with a joke. He loves everything that any other teenager would like, sports and girls. However, he is unable to speak and has a hard time controlling his arms.
Some of his peers and the adults around him don't think that he can fully comprehend what they are saying. But that's the opposite of the truth. DJ has a quick wit and an active mind. He just needs a little help getting his message across.
With this machine, DJ finally has the ability to speak his mind. It tracks his eye movement, and he's able to get his point across without needing his voice or his body to help.
You've got to see the smile on his face after he makes a wise crack about his loving mother. And the look on her face is priceless, too! Technology really can be wonderful.
