Anyone with elderly parents knows the constant worry that a fall could happen at any time. This worry is only amplified if you have a parent who is living alone.
Besides stopping by and calling often, it all comes down to the kindness of others to ensure that all is well when you can't be around.
And for the most part, people are more than willing to help out when they can.
Take these police officers for example. They went out of their way in awful weather to ensure that an elderly man in town didn't go hungry. He was trapped in his house and called the officers for a bit of help because he hadn't eaten in two days.
The officers didn't hesitate for a second, they immediately showed up and filled the man's cabinets with food they'd bought using their own money. It was beyond the call of duty, and so very kind of them.
Then, there's this man who not only stopped his own car to let an elderly woman cross the road, but got out to stop other cars, as well. It's something so simple, but it made a huge difference in this woman's day.
For 70-year-old Rocky Mosteller, his hero came in the form of an 11-year-old boy who now calls him his best friend.
