IS THE ROYAL BABY HERE YET?! Not quite, but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made one more key preparation for the baby's arrival. Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland, is officially in town for the birth, People reports.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first baby any day now. Earlier reports indicated that Doria planned to move in with the Sussexes after the birth to help out. They did, after all, just move into a newer and bigger house, Frogmore Cottage, with plenty of room for the grandma-to-be.
But sources now say that Doria's not planning on making a permanent move to the cottage, which is on the Windsor estate. She has, however, reportedly arrived in town to be there for the birth.
The rest of us will have to wait a bit longer for the happy news. Meghan and Harry are keeping their birth plans private. They will not participate in the traditional post-birth photo op, but they will announce when the duchess is in labor. Eek!
Meghan Markle's mom Doria Ragland is about to become a grandmother for the first time! Meghan Markle (Doria's only child) is expecting her first baby with Prince Harry, and she's almost ready to pop.
Doria released a statement shortly after the couple announced their pregnancy last year:
“Ms. Ragland is very happy about this lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”
Doria is close to Meghan and Harry. She was the only member of Meghan's family present at the royal wedding in May, and she's spent time with the couple regularly since then.
Some sources even reported that the Sussexes were making secret trips to California to visit Doria. She lives in a bungalow in Los Angeles, where she works as a yoga instructor and social worker.
Sources previously reported that Doria planned to move to the UK to live with Meghan after she had her baby, which made sense — they have a close relationship, she's having a baby, and Los Angeles is quite far from Windsor!
Also, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new house, Frogmore Cottage, is much roomier than their previous home, and it has plenty of space for Baby Sussex AND for Grandma.
Sources now say that Doria is not planning to move in with Meghan and Harry permanently. There is, however, room in the cottage dedicated for her, and she still plans to be a hands-on grandma.
Doria reportedly just arrived in town ahead of the baby's birth. She must be so excited, and she's not the only one!
"It is such a happy and exciting time for Meghan," an insider told Entertainment Tonight. "She looks absolutely radiant and is taking each day at a time. [She is] looking forward to becoming a mother."
The birth could happen any day now, and royal fans are on high alert. The couple started their very own Instagram account, @SussexRoyal, and every time they post a new photo, people get their hopes up!
"I get anxiety every time you guys post thinking it's baby news," one fan wrote in a comment.
"My heart stopped," another fan wrote after yet another false alarm.
But don't hold your breath for a baby photo. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are opting to keep their birth plans private — much more private than Kate Middleton and Prince William were with their three children. They haven't revealed where they plan to give birth, though people are speculating.
They also announced that they will not pose for photos with the baby at the hospital after Meghan gives birth, like Kate always has.
"Meghan Markle does not want the pressure of having to pose on the steps for cameras so soon after childbirth," a source told Entertainment Tonight.
Instead, they're going to take their time and pose with the baby back at Windsor Castle within a few days of the birth, when they're ready to share the experience with the world.
They will also announce when Meghan is in labor, so people will still be in the loop about when the royal baby is on its way!
And in the meantime, fans will continue watching @SussexRoyal like hawks.
