It's 2018, and having the perfect romantic proposal is no longer good enough. No, nowadays you also have to have the perfect photos to go along with it. That means photographers, hair, makeup, and, of course, a fresh manicure for the engagement ring shot.
But what happens when the engagement is a complete surprise, and your new fiancée does not have her nails done? Well, her cousin steps in as a hand double, of course.
That's exactly what Jenna did when her cousin, Diana, received a surprise proposal from her boyfriend José.
"Diana is a nurse so she never has her nails done," Jenna tweeted about the experience. "José planned this surprise proposal & couldn't really get her to do her nails without raising suspicion."
After Diana said yes, she was hesitant to use her own unpainted nails in the photos. So Jenna suggested substituting her freshly manicured hand instead.
This loyal cousin literally squatted on the ground and positioned her arm to look like it was coming from Diana's body. Now that's dedication!
José of Melbourne, Australia, had his proposal to Diana all planned out — a beautiful ring, cute balloons, and flowers. And for the most part, things went according to plan. She said yes! And the excited photo-taking commenced.
But Diana didn't actually have her nails done, so she was unprepared for engagement ring photos… so her cousin, Jenna, stepped in to help.
Look at that pose! Clearly, Jenna is one dedicated cousin.
And luckily, there were also professional photographers to capture this hilarious and special moment, since Jenna was way too busy being a hand model to get a proper shot of the couple. She ended up with this:
"Diana is a super hardworking nurse so she rarely ever gets her nails done,” Jenna explained to Scary Mommy.
José couldn't encourage Diana to get a manicure without ruining the surprise.
“We were really excited about taking some photos to help her show off her ring, but she was a bit hesitant about using her own hand since she hadn’t gotten a mani,” Jenna explained.
The family debated whether to quickly paint Diana's nails, but they were too impatient to take photos. Instead, Jenna offered her own freshly manicured hand for the shot.
Because in this day and age, it's all about getting the perfect photo.
And that's what family is for!
Jenna posted her genius cousin move on Twitter, and the post now has over 900,000 likes.
A lot of folks are impressed by Jenna's willingness to help her cousin.
And others are reexamining their whole concept of friendship right now.
Because we all need someone in our corner like this, whether it be a cousin, best friend, sister, aunt, or mom.
Other people were more focused on the whole manicure issue, and how to avoid this problem in the first place.
Because some women would never let someone else put on their ring, even for a few seconds!
But regardless, Jenna is definitely cousin goals. She'll be maid of honor at the wedding, Diana told Good Morning America.
"I thought it was all funny and just for laughs," Diana said. "But it actually worked out really well."
