74-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth To Twins As Oldest Mom In World: ‘It’s A Medical Miracle’

In 2016, an Indian woman named Daljinder Kaur gave birth to her son at the age of 70. She instantly became known as the world's oldest mom.

Erramatti Mangayamma hails from a small village in India. She waited 60 years to have children with her 80-year-old husband, Rajarao.

The couple got married in 1962 but were never able to conceive.

Now, at 74 years old, Erramatti has reportedly unseated Daljinder as the oldest mother in the world — after giving birth to a pair of gorgeous twins!

Doctors agreed to oversee Erramatti through IVF treatment at the Ahalya Hospital in 2018, which is surprising because in the United States pregnancy is considered geriatric after the age of 35. That's quite a crazy gap. Erramatti was inspired to try getting pregnant in her 70s after learning it worked for her 50-something neighbor. She must have tons of energy for a woman her age.

Because of her age, Erramatti was unable to release her own eggs, which is not surprising. If she did get pregnant, she knew she would not be able to breastfeed.

Doctors retrieved eggs from a donor and collected sperm from her husband. Incredibly, Erramatti conceived within the very first cycle. It must have been meant to be!
