This past Saturday, April 15, Kelsey Kemmerling of South Bend, Indiana, joined her family and her boyfriend, Andrew Bergman, at Michiana Escapes to try their hand at "Escape the Room."
The aptly named Escape the Room is a group activity where you get locked into a room and have one hour to find your way out by finding a series of clues, and/or solving a series of puzzles.
Little did Kelsey know, there was more to this puzzle than met the eye!
The family made their way through the clues as time began to run out.
Finally, Kelsey found the puzzle piece.
It read "Will you marry me?"
Kelsey wondered what it meant, and initially tried to figure out how a clue like that could possibly help them escape the room.
That is, until one of her family members yelled "Turn around!"
When she did, she put her hands up to her mouth in shock.
There, down on one knee, was Andrew, holding a box up with an engagement ring in it!
"I love you so much," he said. "It would be so much to me if you would marry me."
Kelsey said yes!
"I had no clue," Kelsey recalled. "I was so enamored with solving the puzzle it did not make sense until I turned around and saw him there. I had no clue, I was still into the game completely."
