Sometimes in life there are instances of coincidences and good timing. Other times, like in this particular story, miracles happen.
In the video below, posted on May 12, 2017, Eva Rivera and her husband can finally call themselves parents.
"I feel lucky when I look at her," Eva River says with a warm smile across her face. Although she is enjoying being a mom now, things weren't always this simple.
Eva, a kidney disease sufferer, recalls trying to conceive for three years and having no luck. "You know, probably, this is best if we stop for a while," she remembers saying. "Maybe until I get a transplant."
Soon, she began dialysis to treat her condition and learned that studies showed her odds of getting pregnant to be around 1.5 percent.
A few months later, she found out something even more shocking — she was pregnant.
"I felt thrilled and terrified," Eva says. Once she found out she was pregnant, she had to take all the possible complications related to kidney disease and dialysis into account. Although she was weary and knew she needed to be extremely careful, she decided to take her baby to term.
In the end, Eva gave birth to her miracle baby and love of her life, Iris, who is completely healthy and bringing her parents a new kind of joy.
