Ewan McGregor is a dad again! The 50-year-old Star Wars star has welcomed his first child with girlfriend Mary Elizabeth Winstead, whom he began dating in 2017 while still married to his ex-wife.
The news of the baby's arrival was shared by two of Ewan's daughters, Clara and Esther. Ewan and Mary Elizabeth kept the news of her pregnancy completely secret until the two women shared photos of the baby boy.
Ewan is also dad to Jamyan and Anouk.
Ewan and Mary Elizabeth reportedly met on the set of Fargo in 2016. They were photographed kissing in 2017, the same year that Mary Elizabeth separated from her husband of seven years. Ewan announced his own separation from his wife of 22 years, Eve Mavrakis, in 2018.
In 2018, Mary Elizabeth told Glamour that her divorce was a bold move in a lot of ways: "I got divorced a couple of years ago, which was a scary, crazy thing for me because I had been with the same person since I was 18 years old, and that was what I knew."
She continued: "I was really starting new as an adult for the first time in my life. For me that was a big turning point, being OK with changing, accepting that change is a good thing and that it's OK not to know where that change is going to take you."
Mary announced her divorce on Instagram, writing, "Sitting here with my best friend who I love with all my heart. We have spent our lives together and it has been full of joy and warmth every day. We've decided to move on from our marriage, but we will stay best friends and collaborators for all our days. We are still ride or die, just in a different way now. I love you always."
News of Ewan's own divorce wasn't delivered quite as sweetly. Ewan's daughter Clara referred to Mary as "trash" before later telling a publication, "There had been a lot building up to it and a lot to deal with, not to make excuses or anything, but, yeah, it wasn't my finest moment. But I'm not afraid to speak out if I feel strongly about something."
However, it definitely seems time has healed some wounds. In her post sharing the news of her little brother's arrival, Clara wrote, "Welcome to the world little brother ❤️ congratulations to my Dad & Mary – this is the greatest gift."
