Parenting isn’t easy for anyone, but when the odds are against you from the moment your child is born, it can be so much harder. That’s what Daddy Don’t Go, a critically acclaimed documentary, hopes to bring to light — The ongoing struggle of fathers who are disadvantaged in life, yet still try to fight for their families.
"Too many fathers are MIA," says President Obama, a quote that overlays several images of children sitting alone in the beginning of the trailer. "[They are] missing from too many lives and too many homes." One out of three children grow up in a home without a father in the United States, the narrator informs us, and it’s always clear what kind of impact a dad can have when he is around. It reminds me of the kids who surprised their dads with a little presentation and also the older children who paid off their dad’s last car payment without his knowledge.
This documentary offers that kind of hope, too.
Alex, Nelson, Roy, and Omar are all men embarking on the incredible journey that is fatherhood despite everyone telling them they’ll end up as a ‘deadbeat dad.’ It’s through their inspiring discussions and a glimpse into their private lives that Daddy Don’t Go truly shines.
Please SHARE for all the amazing fathers out there! They deserve it.
