Neighbors Do Something Extraordinary For Young Boy Who Will Miss Halloween

Halloween is a very exciting time to be a kid. What child doesn't love dressing up and trick-or-treating around the neighborhood?

This fun and festive holiday is usually a time for playfulness and levity, like with this mother who teases her daughter about eating all of her Halloween candy.

But for some less fortunate children who aren't able to go trick-or-treating, Halloween isn't necessarily the exciting holiday we all loved and enjoyed as kids…

So when I came across this heartwarming story of a four-year-old boy who was going to have to miss Halloween because he was going in for surgery, I was absolutely floored by what happened next.

Branden Witt recently celebrated his fourth birthday. Like any normal child, he has been very much looking forward to Halloween. However, this year, Branden must go in for a very serious procedure that will result in him missing the holiday…

But instead of letting that stop their son, his parents took action! With a little creativity and a whole lot of love, an entire neighborhood came together to make Branden's dream a reality…

With Branden scheduled for a skull and spinal surgery — known as Chiari Malformation Decompression, which requires 2-4 days of recovery — he would have to miss out on Halloween this year. But rather than let that happen, his parents Carol and Bobby came up with a brilliant idea…

Branden's parents sent a flyer to neighbors asking them to help the boy celebrate Halloween a week early. The response? Absolutely overwhelming!

Carol and Bobby were completely overwhelmed by the number of neighbors who opened their hearts and took part in Branden's early trick-or-treating.

In fact, more than 41 neighbors said they would be happy to have Branden stop by for his own personal Halloween.

Branden went around to all of the neighborhood homes, accompanied by his sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, and parents.

And at every door, the boy was met with warm smiles, friendly greetings, and (of course) Halloween candy.

This quiet neighborhood in Midlothian, VA truly banded together to make an enormous difference in this four-year-old boy's life.

Branden is very brave to go in for surgery at such a young age, but he luckily has an incredible support system of friends, family, and neighbors who won't hesitate to try to bring a whole lot of joy into his life.
