Honestly, there are few things I love more than bowling — especially during the chilly fall months.
Sometimes I'm all gutter balls, and sometimes I'm on fire, but I never seem to have as much fun as when this 84-year-old grandmother bowled her first strike.
Even so, I love the retro feel of bowling alleys, full of the sounds of arcade games and pins falling and old school music. However, I also love bringing my favorite hobby outdoors with some good ol' fashioned backyard bowling — though, admittedly, it's a little harder to come by.
So when I saw this awesome DIY project, I knew it was the perfect way to bring one of my favorite pastimes into the Halloween season.
This ghostly bowling set is easy enough to make with kids, who will get a huge kick out of making their ghost pins as well as knocking them down.
Even better, this DIY can be made with recycled materials — and there's nothing scary about helping the Earth!

She started off with empty plastic bottles, rubber bands, scraps of white T-shirts, scissors, and a Sharpie marker.

To figure out how long to cut the fabric, she measured the length of the bottle and doubled it.

She then draped the fabric over the bottles. It was important that the fabric not be too long or else it would affect how the bottle fell.

To keep the fabric in place, she tied a rubber band around the cap of the bottle.

With a permanent marker, she then added faces to the ghosts.

When she was done, she arranged them on her back porch to admire her spooky little pins.

Finally, she grabbed an old baseball to test them out...

And it was a strike! What a fun way to enjoy the crisp autumn weather on the back porch!
