Glamorous Mom Of 2 Shares Heartbreakingly Honest Photos Of Battle Against Rare Blood Cancer

Ruth Naylor was a glamorous and successful 32-year-old mom of two. Then, she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

On paper, Ruth had it all: an incredible job, a beautiful home, and two wonderful children. That all changed in August 2017, when she went to the doctor for her flu-like symptoms.

Ruth thought she was just exhausted from dealing with the stress of parenting and having an important job. After eight weeks of feeling under the weather, Ruth finally went to see the doctor.

A simple X-ray revealed a clot on her lung. Ruth's blood tests also came back abnormal.

When she went in the next day for a CT scan, Ruth got the worst news possible: She had a tumor between her lung and her heart.

At a later PET scan, Ruth learned that what she had was stage 2 B Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Now, she's undergoing grueling chemotherapy.

Ruth, whose mom died of cancer when Ruth was only 21, was absolutely devastated when doctors told her that she, too, had cancer.

A CT scan had revealed a tumor between her lung and heart.

Ruth was terrified that she would pass away, too. And when she asked doctors if she would survive, they didn't have an answer for her.

Later, a PET scan revealed that the cancer was in her blood and body tissues as well.

Ruth's mom hadn't reached the chemotherapy stage of cancer treatment, so she was hopeful that the treatment would work.

Along with her diagnosis, Ruth also realized that her gorgeous, glamorous life didn't matter — cancer doesn't discriminate.

On August 31, Ruth shared two photos on Instagram, writing:

So our dance-off begins…. A whirlwind of appointments, scans, tests, procedures.

All with the objective of getting from zero to chemo as quickly as possible.

Biopsy through my chest today, felt bloody awful but needs must.

Don't be fooled….I'm more bothered about the fact that I don't look hot in a hospital gown than being a pin-cushion.

Ruth is hoping to inspire others with her story as she shares regular updates with her followers to keep them in the loop on her cancer treatment.

In the caption for the above photo, she wrote:

In a real time update, this is ACTUALLY what happens when you drink one glass of vino on 18 steroid tablets. Meet Bertie. Good listener, doesn’t answer back, takes whatever I throw at him. We’re gonna be spending a lot of time together.

For those who don’t know me, I’m a rather private person so the sharing doesn’t come easy to me but this is for a greater good.

There are enough smart brains out there to find a cure for this ugly beast, I back them all. Cancer, go home… you don't stand a chance.
