Grandma Delivers Her Granddaughter With The Help Of A 911 Dispatcher

Theresa Sykes is a mom of four kids herself, but nothing could have prepared her for the task she faced with one unexpected surprise.

The Florida mom was utterly shocked when her pregnant daughter, Shirley, started having contractions.

She witnessed Shirley grab hold of the wall and start to push, and the frightened grandma-to-be didn't know what to do. Theresa even says that she "slammed" her daughter's legs together and exclaimed, "No freaking way. We’re not delivering a baby!"

It was clearly too late for the pair to make it to the hospital, so it seemed that Theresa was in a hopeless position: she would have to deliver the baby herself. She didn't hesitate to call 911.

Luckily, dispatchers are trained to help mothers in a crisis, and they know exactly what to do in such a situation, without the proper medical equipment. The dispatcher on the phone with Theresa calmly gave her all the necessary directions until the baby girl was safely delivered.

Theresa even cut the umbilical cord with a shoelace (similarly to the basketball star who used a pair of headphones to cut his fiancée's umbilical cord in their bathroom).

The little one, named Reagan, was born healthy, all thanks to the help of her happy grandma.
