When British couple Will and Amy Perringwood met four years ago, she said it was love at first sight. However, their fairy-tale romance took some unexpected detours before they made it to the altar.
After a year of being together, Will suffered an accident and was found unconscious on a public street. Will was rushed to the hospital and Amy was given a very bleak prognosis from doctors about his condition, and she feared for his life.
Will miraculously recovered after emergency surgery and was eventually returned home. Will told Mirror, "The only medical explanation they've ever given me is I was born with a birth mark on my brain. Throughout my life, it was like a ticking time bomb."
Three years later, Will has mostly recovered, but suffers from short-term memory loss, which explains why he can't remember proposing to Amy.
The couple have since been married, and their wedding has been featured on ITV's Extraordinary Weddings, but Amy feared that Will wouldn't even remember the ceremony.
Despite the difficult situation, the couple still love each other and are overcoming the memory-related issues. Amy told ITV, "I loved Will. I knew that we were strong enough to get through anything because we already had."
Will jokes that a canvas print of their proposal is "proof, it's there," although he "doesn't have a concrete image" of the moment in his head. Luckily the couple hasn't let it interfere with the bigger picture and their life together.
