Gwen Stefani Somehow Convinced The Catholic Church To Annul Her 14-Year-Long Marriage

Gwen Stefani has been pursuing an annulment of her marriage to Gavin Rossdale for nearly two years. Now that annulment has been granted.

Gwen and Gavin were married for 14 years, from 2002 to 2016. They have three sons, 14-year-old Kingston, 12-year-old Zuma, and 6-year-old Apollo.

The timing couldn't be more perfect for Gwen. There was allegedly no telling how long this process would take. Sources close to the 51-year-old mom say she was hoping it happened before then-boyfriend Blake Shelton proposed.

It may have missed that mark, but it has come before she and Blake tie the knot. Us Weekly reports the annulment has been granted, and Gwen's just awaiting the written confirmation.

Gwen and Blake announced their engagement in late October. In recent interviews, Gwen has confessed that she's been waiting on the engagement and is excited to get hitched again.

Gwen Stefani is putting her past behind her in a major way. A source tells Us Weekly that Gwen has finally been granted her long-coveted annulment from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale by the Catholic Church.

"Gwen was told the decision was made by the Vatican tribunal," the source shares.

Gwen and Gavin were married for 14 years from 2002 to 2016, splitting up in 2015. Gwen has reportedly been pursuing this annulment since March 2019.

"She will be receiving the notification in writing in the next few weeks, but it's official," the source said.

"Gwen's religion has always been extremely important to her, and Blake is completely supportive of this," a source told Us Weekly at the time.

At the time, the source said Gwen and Blake would be willing to wait on getting married until the annulment was granted. That said, there isn't exactly a timeline things of that nature follow, so it could have been a long wait.

Gwen seems to have luck on her side. She and Blake Shelton got engaged back in October after dating since 2016.

"It was a huge relief for Gwen because she wanted to get married by her priest and have the marriage recognized by the Catholic church," the insider noted.

Gwen was awaiting the engagement, as she revealed to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show.

"I gotta tell you, I was sort of like, 'What's happening with us?'" she admitted.

"It was kind of in my mind. 'We've been together a long time now. What's going on?' I was in that place in my head."

The couple was apparently prepared to go through with getting married regardless of whether or not the annulment was granted.

"[The global health crisis] has turned their world upside down, as it has with so many families. Gwen knows she is blessed and wants to have the wedding as soon as social distancing guidelines are lifted," the source said.

Gwen and Blake are still holding off on wedding plans to see what happens with the health crisis.

"I would say I just want my parents there at this point. My parents wouldn't come to Thanksgiving because they're so scared so really would rather it not be a [social distancing] situation. Like, I would rather not have masks and that kind of thing," Gwen told Ryan Seacrest in an interview.

When they do get around to getting hitched, Gwen's three boys will have a big part in it.

"Gwen's sons are just really solid, sweet kids, and they're so excited for Blake and Gwen to get married," a source told People magazine.

"They can't wait to stand by their sides."

Blake has a great relationship with the boys and is respectful of the fact that Gavin is still a big part of their lives.

"From the beginning, Gwen made it clear to Blake that her boys were No. 1 in her life, and Blake always respected this," the source noted.

"He never wanted to overstep and made sure everyone was comfortable with his role in her sons' lives."

"Gwen always gushed about how amazing Blake is with the boys," the source noted.

"She feels so lucky that he helps her raise them. His love and guidance is something that Gwen is beyond grateful for."
