You might think that there are few hazards associated with dropping kids off at school, but we’ve seen school bus drivers do some remarkable things in times of need.
One driver rescued 11 children after they were caught in the open during a horrific tornado. Another was hailed as hero after pulling off the road to help a little girl in need of medical attention.
Personally, all of these stories only make me feel more confident and secure that our bus drivers are really looking out for these kids, especially after the latest story coming out of Palm Beach, Florida.
Kerra George was driving her bus of elementary schoolers on their normal route the morning of November 18th. Suddenly, two of the older kids at the back started yelling that they saw smoke.
With no time to spare, Ms. George pulled over, yelled “Evacuate!” and got each and every child off of that bus and safely onto the side of the road. Just minutes later, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Ms. George, who considers the students to be her own, says her only regret is losing the cherished pictures “her” kids always like to draw for her. Watch her describe the scene in the video below.
