Known purveyor of all things pirates, Johnny Depp made the day for a group of Australian grade school kids at a children's hospital this week after he showed up dressed as one of his most iconic characters.
Clad in his full Jack Sparrow ensemble, Depp made a pitstop at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Queensland, Australia, where he cracked jokes with the children and posed for pictures. Depp reportedly flew in by helicopter and asked that the visit be a surprise to avoid any needless interference with his time with the kids.
In the video below, Depp kids around with a shy boy named Max Bennett whose mother beamed about Depp's day of laughs with the kids. Rachel Bennett told ABC News Australia that Depp awarded her son some rare pirate gold and absolutely made his day. "We waited out of the front of one of the rooms, and he came up to us and had a really good chat to Max," she said. She added that Depp asked hospital staff not to allow the adults and parents to crowd him so that he could spend his time putting smiles on the faces of the children.
All in a pirate day's work, as they say.
