Janet Jackson’s Nephew Respectfully Speaks Out Against Her ‘Overly Sexualized’ Performance

Janet Jackson is learning the phrases “you can’t please them all” and “everyone’s a critic” hit closer to home than one might expect. Her nephew Tito Joe "TJ" Jackson took to Twitter to express his opinions about her career. One fan posted a video of Janet performing her song, "Would You Mind," in concert and TJ gave his critique.

TJ loves his aunt and respects her artistry but wishes she did not go so far in portraying sexuality on stage. This led many others to way in and sparked a debate.

TJ's original response to the video read: “I never liked when she did this in concerts either. I don't like when females are overly sexualized in art…it degrades and objectify's women in a way that's not healthy. I prefer the 'That's The Way Love Goes' Janet. ”

One Twitter user asked TJ if it was because he was Janet’s nephew. No one wants to think of their aunt as a sexual being.

“Nah…I didn't like it …it just diminishes her amazing talent,” TJ responded.

This user pushed back citing Michael Jackson and Prince as examples. TJ did not budge.

“My aunt got a lot dirtier than my uncle. I've traveled and seen how black women are treated better outside the states. They are truly and rightfully celebrated more and I believe it has a lot to do with how we allow ourselves to be projected here,” he stated.

TJ made sure it was known he thinks his aunt is incredibly talented. “She is a trailblazer and an icon. From Control to RN to All for You to Gone Till It’s Gone…There will never be another JJ,” he wrote. TJ just does not agree with everything she’s done.
