Jessa Duggar Seewald and her husband Ben Seewald have some exciting news: They are pregnant with their fourth baby, who is due sometime this summer. Jessa shared the news on Instagram, simply writing, "We're looking forward to summertime, and here's our #1 reason! Thank you, God, for this precious gift!"
This pregnancy follows the 2020 miscarriage that Jessa experienced. The couple told Entertainment Tonight that they are especially grateful for this pregnancy: "After the heartbreaking loss of a baby last year, we're overjoyed to share that another little Seewald is on the way."
They continued, "The pregnancy is going smoothly, and both baby and Jessa are doing well. We are so grateful to God for the precious gift of a new life! The kids are delighted, and we can hardly wait to welcome this little one into our arms this summer."
Jessa and Ben are currently mom and dad to three kids: 5-year-old Spurgeon, 4-year-old Henry, and 20-month-old Ivy. In 2018, the couple told Us Weekly they were considering adoption or fostering children as a path toward continued parenthood.
"The desire to adopt or possibly foster is one that continues to weigh heavily on our hearts."
She reiterated this to Us Weekly in 2020. "We could wait until all of our kids are grown and gone and then adopt, but I also think it's kind of cool to have an adopted child growing up with the other kids."
Jessa and Ben also shared that they were meeting with other adoptive parents to learn more. "We're just in a stage of, like, meeting with people who have adopted and getting advice, hearing their stories and seeing what that might look like for us. … We're not sure if our next baby will be adopted or not."
Many people thought Jessa was pregnant back in April 2020 when she shared a conversation she had about baby names with her son Spurgeon.
This is the conversation she shared:
"I love older names, and was talking with Spurgeon about this.
"Me: 'Do you like the name 'Alice,' for a girl?'
"Spurgeon: 'Alice? That sounds like 'malice.' That is not my favorite name. I prefer ‘speeding-delightning.'"
Jessa's brother, Joe, and his wife Kendra are also expecting their third baby together. The pair revealed the news in August 2020. They told People magazine, "We are so excited to see Garrett and Addison's reaction when they meet the new baby. Garrett has already been such a loving big brother to Addison and we look forward to Addison's reaction to a life size baby doll."
