Jinger Duggar Vuolo Speaks Out On Her Tragic Miscarriage Last Year: ‘It Was Sudden’

Jinger Duggar Vuolo and her husband, Jeremy, are awaiting the arrival of their second child. The couple is overjoyed to welcome another little girl to join 2-year-old Felicity. Their latest bundle of joy is due in November. Their hearts are still heavy, however, after a devastating loss last winter.

When Jinger revealed her pregnancy in May, she also shared that she had previously suffered a miscarriage. The loss occurred just after Jinger and Jeremy shared their big news with her big family. It was heartbreaking, but thankfully she had a great support system.

Jinger has explained that sister Joy-Anna was a great comfort to her during that time. Joy-Anna has also experienced the pain of losing a baby she looked forward to. In helping her sister, it strengthened their bond. Jinger is thrilled that Felicity will get to know the joy of having a sister to lean on.

In a clip for tonight's episode of Counting On, Jinger and Jeremy open up about their difficult loss.

Jinger Duggar Vuolo is arguably one of the most independent members of the Duggar family. Jinger and husband Jeremy moved to Los Angeles, away from the larger Duggar clan. That doesn't mean that Jinger can't count on her family, as she shared recently.

In May, Jinger announced that she and husband Jeremy are expecting their second child.

"We are so excited to announce that we're expecting a little girl this November! Jeremy and I both guessed it was a girl, just a gut feeling we had. And we couldn't be happier," she shared.

"The bond that sisters share is unique, and one I cherish every day. After all these years, they're still my best friends! I'm glad God's giving that gift for Felicity to enjoy. As for me and Jeremy, we'll definitely have our hands full! But there's nothing else we'd rather carry ❤️."

In a follow-up post, Jinger also revealed that this baby would be a rainbow baby for the couple. She opened up about a miscarriage they'd experienced last winter.

"I'm excited! Yet, the overwhelming feelings of joy and anticipation that I'm feeling today are a sharp reminder of the overwhelming feelings of sadness and loss I felt last November. On a Monday evening, Jer and I were rejoicing with our families as we announced that I was pregnant. Yet, in God's perfect timing, it was the next morning that I awoke knowing something wasn't right," she wrote.

"Within moments I knew that I'd lost the baby. Tears filled my eyes, sadness cloaked my soul. Having just lost my grandmother months before, the news of new life was like spring lilies blossoming after a dark, cold winter. And in a moment, that life was gone," she continued.

"I know many of you can relate. The minutes feel like hours, the hours like days, don't they? I was helpless—nothing I could do would restore the lost life. Yet, I was never hopeless."

"In those moments, I did the only thing I could. I rehearsed the timeless truths upon which I've anchored my soul—the truth that God is sovereign and he is good. The truth that Job recited, thousands of years ago, in his agony: 'The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.'"

"The pain doesn't leave quickly," she acknowledged.

"It's not meant to. But in the midst of pain, the hope we hold is in God who works 'all things together for good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose' (Rom 8:28). Dear friends, the reality is, at times we are helpless. But never, and I mean never, do we have to be hopeless."

On tonight's episode of Counting On, we'll get to see more of Jinger and Jeremy's experience from that time in their lives.

"Recently we had announced to my family the news that we were expecting," Jinger says in a clip for the episode.

"That night, I started having some concerning signs."

"During the middle of the night I started waking up and having more and more spotting and it was not normal," she continues.

"We went in and they tried to check for a heartbeat, but they couldn't find one. They did an ultrasound and said that we had lost the baby."

Jeremy is also open about the painful experience.

"It was very difficult for us, the timing," he says. "It was sudden, and we had just announced to our family and it hit us hard."

Thankfully, Jinger found support in one of her sisters who is all too familiar with the experience. Joy-Anna, who is also currently pregnant, suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks last summer.

"I talked to Joy a lot in that time," Jinger told Us Weekly.

"We grew closer. We were already close, but that relationship even deepened all the more having been through the same thing. [It] was very difficult, but I was grateful for Joy to be able to talk to her."

Despite being the younger of the two, Joy-Anna has taken the lead and provided comfort to Jinger. Joy-Anna is expecting a little girl of her own any day now.

"With her little one that she has on the way now following the miscarriage, [we talked about] how she was dealing with that and even all the fears that come up and how she was trusting God through that," she shared.
