Brilliant Idea Could Turn Your Rescue Dog Into A Children’s Toy. This Is Pretty Sweet.

While driving around uptown Manhattan, Laurie Brown-Nagin saw something that would change her life forever. She spotted an NYPD officer clutching an adorable puppy in his arms and when she pulled over to ask about the puppy, her heart was broken by what she heard.

That puppy was one of millions of pets abandoned in the United States. She couldn't believe that no one wanted this adorable little nugget of a dog. Although it is impossible to determine how many stray dogs and cats are living in the U.S., the ASPCA estimates that 7.6 million companion animals enter municipal shelters every year.

These are amazing animals who just want a pack to call their own and Laurie wanted to help open the world's eyes on just how important and meaningful adopting a rescue dog can be for both the owner and the pup.

So, Laurie started OPERATION ResCUTE as a way to educate and encourage children to start thinking about adopting a shelter dog. The best way to reach them, she believed, was by creating a children's book based on the real life of an adopted dog and including a plush toy too! Of course, the first installment is called "The Story of Jingles," which showcases, you guessed it, Jingles, the dog she rescued and later adopted from the streets of NYC.

The second installment is expected to launch around the holidays and will feature none other than Jinges' BFF Tanner. As for the third, well, that is up to you. OPERATION ResCUTE is currently on the hunt for the next rescue star and you can put your pup into the running!

One of the best parts about the OPERATION ResCUTE series is that 100% of the profits from each ResCUTE purchase goes to pet shelters across the country, which is helping kids become a part of the solution in decreasing the number of stray pets across the country.
