The Stamos family is leaning on Disney to get by during their time at home. They're sharing that little bit of magic with everyone else who needs it to get by.
It's no secret that John Stamos and his wife, Caitlyn McHugh Stamos, are huge Disney fans. John actually proposed to Caitlyn at Disneyland. Caitlyn, a Disneybounder who coordinates outfits based on characters, was super moved by the thoughtful proposal.
Now they're spreading the love of Disney to their son. Billy is almost 2, which made for some pretty hilarious antics as the family tried to film their own rendition of "It's a Small World After All." They shared the footage on Instagram.
The video of the family tumbling around their enormous bed and having a good time together was incredibly sweet. It's a nice reminder of what many of us are lucky to be able to enjoy during this time: quality time with our loved ones.
John Stamos and his wife are hardcore Disney fans. It's adorable to see how their love for Disney has taken on a whole new life as they raise their nearly 2-year-old son, Billy. The family has been trying to keep the magic going while practicing social distancing.
John shared a sweet family moment with fans on Instagram. "‘It’s a Small World’ family Sing-A-Long turned into a ‘Small Disaster! #bedjams #quarantine #stayhome," John joked in the caption.
The adorable video shows John and Caitlyn trying to sing the famous Disney tune.
Billy has other plans, however. He climbs onto Caitlyn's lap. He tumbles around the bed until he starts crying. He even playfully bites his mom as the couple also dissolves into laughter. The video ends with John throwing a stuffed Mickey Mouse at the camera.
The family's playfulness is the kind of mind bleach we need at a moment like this. It reminds those of us lucky enough to be with our families what a beautiful thing that could be. These are strange times, but they're made easier with the ones we love.
Disney is a major part of the family's lives in many different ways. Like most parents who are Disney fans themselves, they're loving sharing the magic with Billy. Caitlyn is a longtime Disneybounder, which is a type of superfan who finds ways to create Disney character-inspired outfits that work in everyday life.
In a video posted the same day by Disney, John reads A Kiss Goodnight by Floyd Norman and Richard Sherman. He's one of many stars teaming up with Disney to provide entertainment for fans who are social distancing at home. John read the book while sitting in a Dumbo cart from the Disneyland ride.
The story tells a beautiful tale of how Walt Disney was inspired by the beauty of fireworks. That's what inspired the special nighttime fireworks for theme park guests.
"I know this is a very difficult time for everyone — plus we can’t go to Disneyland or Disney World — but we have our family, we have our friends, and we have Disney. So let’s do what he would do and find magic in each and every day," John says in the video.
John will also be starring in a show for Disney+. He's going to play an eccentric college basketball coach who finds himself teaching at an all-girls high school team after losing his job. Big Shot was announced in October and was filming up until earlier this month, when many productions began shutting down.
While they both have their personal reasons for loving Disney, the magic also plays an important part in their love story. John proposed to Caitlyn at Disneyland.
"I asked…she said yes! …And we lived happily ever after ," he shared on Instagram when announcing the exciting news.
"I called her parents to ask, and it was like, ‘You better!’ She loves Disneyland, and I thought, Okay, Disney … [at the park] I got on my knee and asked her," he told People magazine.
"I pulled the ring out. I don’t know how she did it, but she went to hug me and slipped her finger right in it. When the park closed we ran around the park in our Disney onesies."
John made a short film out of romantic moments from Disney and Pixar movies. The montage ended with a moment from The Little Mermaid. Sebastian holds up a sign that says, "Go on and ask the girl," at which point he did.
"I kissed the boy and said…yes! That’s what you do when the sweetest, most romantic Prince Charming treats you like a princess and asks you to be his ," she said.
The couple also spent their honeymoon at Disney. "Perfect way to begin our #happilyeverafter," the new bride gushed. John also posted scenes from the honeymoon, celebrating being at the #happiestplaceonearth, and being the #happiestmanonhearth.
Caitlyn is also hoping to share the Disney spirit with others during this time. She recently learned how to make face masks. She's hoping to give them to nurses she knows, as well as people sending her requests online. The patterns are a small bright spot in a situation that's bleak for those on the front lines.
"Making a few different styles. Excited to get these to friends of mine who are nurses and friends who need the extra distance from others," she shared.
"I’m spending every free second making these now. I don’t have a ton of time and I’m a little slow, but I’ll make as many as I can. If you are in need just dm me a mailing address and style you prefer, if you have a pattern link that’d be helpful. No cost. I probably won’t get to every dm, but I’ll do my best. Much love to everyone."
