Katy Perry is pregnant! She and Orlando Bloom are expecting their first biological child together, and Katy decided to announce her pregnancy in her newest music video. Orlando has one son, Flynn, with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr, and Katy is actively involved in helping to raise the 9-year-old.
Katy released the video for her new single "Never Worn White" on Wednesday night. In the final shot of the video, Katy is happily showing off her baby bump.
She told her fans on Instagram Live:
“I am excited. We’re excited and happy and it’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. And I like to tell you guys everything but I knew I would tell you in the best way, which is through a piece of music because that’s… I guess that’s how I speak to you. That’s how we speak together to each other.”
She also said that she’s been craving burritos and Tabasco sauce, and she’s even started carrying the sauce “everywhere” with her.
After releasing the video, Katy sent out a pretty funny tweet. Referring to her belly, the singer said that she's happy she doesn't have to "suck it in" anymore. Katy is known for sharing a lot with her fans, so it was probably pretty hard for her to wait this long to let everyone in on what was a really special, exciting secret.
Her fans are super excited for the singer and for Orlando Bloom. Their celebrity fans are also thrilled. Missy Elliott tweeted, "Congratulations & May your bundle of Joy bring you & your family so much HAPPINESS." A fan tweeted, "This is such an emotional, personal and honest song, thanks for sharing with us, I literally could hear your feelings, and you chose to share it with us as friends, being part of it is amazing! Congratulations! I am so happy for you!"
Katy and Orlando got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019. She's also a planner: The singer said that she had the venue "locked in" five days later. "There's a lot of details but I haven't shared them. I don't know if you really need to share them with the public. There's always some silly rumor of a date change. It's like, 'Please, [expletive], I've had my date secured since February 19 and I got engaged February 14 of last year!"
She also shared that finally dating a man like Orlando has been amazing. ""I've … got[ten] to experience, finally, a guy that's very kind and that supports women and champions women. And so once I've been able to actually experience that in my own life, I believe that great men out there exist!"
Katy was previously married to Russell Brand, and the two divorced after being married for just over a year. They met in 2008 and ended up in a relationship together the following year. Russell proposed to Katy on New Year's Eve in 2009, while they were in India. They returned to the country when they got married the following year.
Orlando has also been married before. He and Miranda Kerr got married in July 2010 after dating for three years. They revealed that Miranda was pregnant in August of the same year, and Flynn was born January 6, 2011.
They made their last public appearance together in 2013 at the Broadway opening of Romeo and Juliet. They announced their separation in October of that year.
Rumors first flew about Katy and Orlando when they were spotted dancing together in January 2016. Katy shared a photo of the two to Instagram in May 2016, officially confirming the relationship. But they took a break in 2017, and fans weren't sure if they would reconcile. Happily, they reunited and went to an Ed Sheeran concert in August 2017.
In January 2019, the two celebrated Orlando's 42nd birthday together, and they were engaged the following month. They have not released the details of their wedding, so it's unknown if they'll get married before or after the baby is born. But in the song "Never Worn White," Katy sings "See us in 60 years with a full family tree," so it's safe to assume the two are in it for the long haul.
Their baby will join big brother Flynn when he or she is born. Flynn is now 9 years old. Orlando has previously said, "I love kids. She's great with kids. It would be a wonderful thing. We are shooting for that. It's like this wild mustang. If we can just wrangle this beast and get on it, we'll have the ride of our life," when asked about having a family with Katy.
He also added that having a kid can be a big game-changer. "When you have a child, you realize you're not the most important person in the room. You know, it crushes your ego, and you go, 'Oh, wow,' right? So it reframes everything. She, you know, is still the most important person in her room [with] her family and everyone else. … I'm sure, you know, having a child for me changed all of that, so I was in a different headspace and she had to kind of work on getting her head into a headspace that felt like, OK, partnership and stuff."
He also said that he and his ex, Miranda, work at co-parenting together: "I always was like, 'Listen, we're gonna be in each other's lives for the rest of each other's lives. We have a child. Let's [do] whatever it takes."
Miranda has had two additional children, Hart and Myles, with her second husband, Evan Spiegel.
