Khloé Kardashian is loving life as a mom so far, but things weren't always so simple. When Khloé was still pregnant with her daughter, True, she assumed she was having a boy. She was heartbroken when she found out that she was having a girl instead.
"I'm really hoping they're gonna say they're lying and I'm really having a boy," the 34-year-old said at the time.
Then April came and she did, indeed, give birth to a girl. Khloé tweeted an explanation for her initial disappointment, and it's surprisingly sweet.
"I wanted a boy so badly because [my nephew] Mason and I are so close," the new mom said. "I love our bond."
Now, of course, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star couldn't be happier about having a daughter.
True is Khloé's first child with her boyfriend, NBA star Tristan Thompson. Despite the cheating scandal that rocked their relationship just days before Khloé gave birth, the two have remained committed to each other. So who knows? Maybe there's still time to have a boy yet!
In April, Khloé gave birth to her first daughter, True, with Tristan by her side.
Since then, Khloé has happily adapted to her new role as mama.
But before True was born, the idea of having a daughter totally freaked Khloé out. She'd been expecting — and hoping — to have a son.
One episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians showed Khloé receiving the news that her baby was a girl. At first, she couldn't believe it.
And then she was VERY disappointed.
And then she was a little bit in denial.
Recently, Khloé took to Twitter to explain why she'd been hoping for a boy. She says it was because of her close relationship with her nephew, Mason, who made Khloé an aunt for the first time.
Though having a daughter was a surprise, Khloé couldn't be happier with her relationship with True.
"True has made me sweeter and more gentle," Khloé wrote. "God gives you what you need."
A fan on Twitter suggested that maybe Khloé needed a daughter to help her get closer with the girls.
"Maybe you're right," Khloé said.
Khloé's reaction to the gender reveal might seem a little strange, but she's definitely not the only mom who got her hopes up for one thing, only to be surprised by another. Some fans tweeted their own similar stories.
Sometimes, even after you try multiple times, you never get the gender you were hoping for!
But in the end, everything turns out the way it's supposed to.
And sometimes you get exactly what you wished for, but it's not what you expected.
In any case, baby True has plenty of boys around. She has an older brother — Tristan Thompson's son, Prince, is about a year older than True.
Meanwhile, Khloé continues to have a strong bond with Mason, the oldest son of Kourtney Kardashian.
And who knows? Maybe she'll get her baby boy someday.
