Many people think that racism in America is a thing of the past, but the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri have proved that we still have a very long way to go.
In this video, the group of real kids from Ferguson wear shirts that say "Racism Is Not Over, But I'm Over Racism", while giving some of the most honest and accurate statements about the subject that I have ever heard. "Just because Beyoncé is on your playlist and you voted for Obama, doesn't mean our generation has seen the end of racist drama," one line accurately states. While we may not encounter discrimination and hatred in our daily lives, that doesn't mean it's a thing of the past.
Even though the video is on the lighthearted side, the young activists for the organization FCKH8 should still be praised for bringing this subject to light in a way that isn't hostile. Sometimes things are easiest to understand when they are put simply by a child. Racism is a complex subject, but ending it doesn't have to be.
