Deciding that you're done expanding your family is a big decision for any couple.
Since many methods of birth control (like the pill and condoms) have the capacity for failure due to either manufacturing issues or user error, some men and women decide to opt for a more permanent way to prevent unintended pregnancy. Some women (including Kelly Clarkson, who opened up about undergoing the procedure earlier this year) choose to get their tubes tied.
But many couples instead choose to have the man undergo a vasectomy instead, since it's a significantly less complex, less invasive, and lower-risk procedure.
One young couple, already parents of two, made this decision themselves. Instead of keeping their news private, mom Kimberly Hemperly decided to share it with family and friends, posting photos of the surprise celebration she put together for her husband's procedure. But she never expected her post to go massively viral!

Kimberly is a stay-at-home mom of 2.
She and her husband have one 4-year-old daughter, born in 2013.
They also recently expanded their family, welcoming a son in July of this year.
While Kimberly and her husband are clearly very happy as parents of their two adorable kids, they decided they were done and didn't want to have any more.
Kimberly told ScaryMommy that since she had already had two c-section births, her husband volunteered to go under the knife himself so that she wouldn't have to for a third time.
In honor of his willing sacrifice, Kimberly decided to make her husband feel special.
So she concocted a crafty plan to throw him a perfectly-themed vasectomy party — a "Balls Voyage" party, that is.
Kimberly posted several photos of the hilarious celebration on Facebook, where they quickly went massively viral.
"We have an announcement to make! We are thrilled to say we will NOT be adding anymore tiny humans to our family! My husband is taking one for the team and to celebrate this momentous occasion I felt the need to throw him a little “Balls Voyage” party for his upcoming procedure. Because omg y’all nobody is more excited about this than me. #teamnomorebabies #snipsniphooray #recreationaluseonly," she wrote.
At last count, the mom of two's post had been shared over 48,000 times.
Kimberly told ScaryMommy that she'd gone to the grocery store to find anything "balls or sausage related" for the party snacks, coming up with Ding Dongs and bananas, among other things.
She also had custom "Swim Team Survivor" shirts made for her two kids.
Each shirt has the date that each of the kids was born.
Even though the kids likely have no idea what the shirts mean or what the party is really for, based on Kimberly's pictures, they clearly enjoyed the impromptu celebration!
Kimberly says her husband thought the surprise party was "thoughtful and hilarious." She explained to Romper that she was inspired to throw a "Balls Voyage" party when she saw one thrown by reality star Lydia McLaughlin on Real Housewives of Orange County.
She even had a very appropriate cake made just for the celebration!
"Snip snip hooray," indeed!
