As they often do, another royal reporter has put out a book reportedly detailing moments specifically from the life of King Charles.
Author Christopher Andersen claims in his new book, The King: The Life of Charles III, that King Charles was unaware that Meghan Markle was biracial upon meeting her.
The book details Meghan’s first meeting with the royals.
"After returning from Botswana that fall, Harry introduced Meghan to his father and Camilla, The Prince of Wales found the young American actress — who bore a passing resemblance to Kate's sister, Pippa — 'completely charming, absolutely delightful,'" Andersen writes.
The book also notes that the now King Charles seemed unaware that Meghan was biracial but was informed later.
"At the time, Prince Charles had no idea that Harry's new girlfriend was biracial. 'Not that it would have mattered at all, of course,' Charles told an American friend. 'But no, I didn't realize that until later,'" the excerpt says.
The book details Queen Elizabeth as very kind, no matter whom she came in contact with, according to OK!
An excerpt from the book reads, "For her part, the Queen, who experienced countless up-close-and-personal encounters with people of all races, ethnicities, and religions during her record-breaking reign, appeared utterly devoid of prejudice."
The author continued, "Not once had she ever been heard to make a racially insensitive comment. The same could not be said for Charles, although his gaffes were rare — like the time he told a writer of Guyanese descent that she didn't 'look like' she was born in the British city of Manchester, presumably because she was black and wore dreadlocks."
Meghan Markle, of course, spoke out in an interview with Oprah Winfrey about how some people in the royal family were "concerned" over son Archie's skin color.
“In those months when I was pregnant… we have in tandem the conversation of ‘he won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
Prince Harry will soon be adding his own voice to the mix of royal books. His memoir, Spare, is due to be released on January 10, 2023, and will tell the Duke of Sussex's life story.
A press release about the book reads, "Spare takes readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother's coffin as the world watched in sorrow — and horror."
