When LaVonte Dell was pulled over by a rookie cop in Westland, Michigan, he immediately thought the worst.
Officer Joshua Scaglione initially pulled Dell over for his tinted car windows, but things took an unexpected turn when he quickly noticed his three-year-old daughter Lauren sitting in the backseat without a car seat. This goes against child passenger safety laws and can be extremely dangerous.
Officer Scaglione began to question Dell, who tearfully explained he had been going through some very tough times. It was clear he was crying and ashamed of his predicament.
Scaglione then asked the single father to step out of the car. Again, things took a surprising turn, and the father certainly never saw it coming.
Scaglione told Dell to follow him to Walmart. Stunned, Dell took to Facebook to share the following experience, and to thank the officer whose name he didn't get.
"Never judge a book by its cover," he wrote. "In a world filled with negative stories, the fact that you shared yours has had an unbelievably positive impact on all of us. Thank you," it read.
