LeBron James’ Son Bronny Commits To USC Becoming The First In His Family To Attend College

It is Instagram official. On May 7, 2023, Bronny James posted that he has committed to play basketball for USC. His family and friends, including dad LeBron James, could not be happier.

Bronny will be a first generation college student. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Ohio State and Oregon were also in the running but ultimately lost out to the Trojans. ESPN considers Bronny in the top five point guards in the country, with Jonathan Givony believing that Bronny could be a first round NBA draft pick in 2024.

Bronny’s Instagram announcement was simple but effective. He posted a picture of himself in the Trojan locker room in a high school basketball uniform. He captioned it, "Fight On ✌ #committed.”

He got lots of congratulations in the comments. Nick Young, a former Trojan who went on to play professional basketball, wrote, “welcome to the family bro bro ✌ ✌ ✌ .”

YouTuber Kristopher London also got in on the action. “Ayeeee congrats bro!” he commented.

LeBron addressed his son’s decision in a post-game press conference.

"I'm proud of him. This is an incredible thing," dad gushed. "Unless it was one of my great-grandmothers or great-grandfathers or someone way before my time, to my knowledge this is the first one out of the James Gang to go to college. It's very, very, very, very exciting, very humbling and a great moment for our family."
