For Linda Dominguez, giving birth to her first child was a life-changing experience for several reasons.
In 1995, she gave birth in Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center's maternity ward.
When a nurse named Chrissy Basiliere came to help deliver Linda's child, the new mom didn't expect the woman in scrubs to have such a lasting impact on her life.
When Linda showed up to the hospital maternity ward's 25th anniversary celebration, she just had to tell her favorite nurse about her life choices since the delivery.
In the video below, posted on February 21, 2017, Linda and Chrissy meet face to face for the first time in 22 years, bringing it in for a long, meaningful hug. "It's been so long!" a teary-eyed Chrissy tells Linda. Little did the Chief Nursing Officer know that she was about to learn why this reunion was so important to her old, thankful patient. Linda had some significant news to share with Chrissy about her life since that day in 1995.
Linda reveals, "I wanted to be like her. I wanted to make people feel the way she made me feel."
Because of Linda's outstanding experience with Nurse Chrissy, she felt inspired and became a nurse herself.
The delivery urged Linda to become the kind of person who can care for others, make them feel comfortable, and be a source of both physical and emotional support for those who need it — just like Chrissy did for her 22 years ago.
