Lisa Marie Presley has been staying out of the limelight since her son's 2020 death. Lisa's son, Benjamin Keough, died by suicide that year, and it rocked her to her very core.
But now Lisa is updating her fans on her mental health. She took to social media to talk about the upcoming biopic about her late father, Elvis Presley, which hits theaters on June 24. But she also took the opportunity to share how she has been doing since her son's death.
Lisa penned a lengthy message and revealed why she has been quiet for so long. "Hello everyone, I haven’t posted in quite some time because there really isn’t much to say, as I am and will forever be mourning the loss of my son," she began. "Navigating through this hideous grief that absolutely destroyed and shattered my heart and my soul into almost nothing has swallowed me whole."
"Not much else aside from my other 3 children gets my time and attention anymore," she continued. "However, that being said, I do want to take a moment to let you know that I have seen Baz Luhrmann's movie 'Elvis' twice now, and let me tell you that it is nothing short of spectacular. Absolutely exquisite."
Lisa is clearly a huge fan of the film, and the acting, which is really saying something. As the daughter of Elvis, she's likely going to be the harshest critic of any film attempting to portray the legend that was her father. She says this one really hit the mark.
"Austin Butler channeled and embodied my father’s heart and soul beautifully. In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and FINALLY done accurately and respectfully," she writes, adding that if he doesn't get an Oscar she will eat her "own foot."
Lisa wasn't the only one completely blown away by the film. She says her three daughters were absolutely in awe of it. Riley, Harper ,and Finley were "so filled with pride about their grandfather and his legacy in a way that I have not previously experienced," she writes.
Lisa has clearly been forever changed by the death of her son. She celebrated him in a post on his birthday soon after his death.
"My beautiful beautiful angel, I worshipped the ground you walked on, on this earth and now in Heaven. My heart and soul went with you," she wrote at the time. "The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day. I will never be the same."
