Many people out there know the thrill of adopting a stray animal. Whether they've come from the streets or were found in a shelter, these animals bring great joy and fulfillment once they're welcomed into loving homes.
We've heard plenty of stories about how rescued pets can form extremely profound bonds with their caregivers, and can even end up "choosing" their own humans — like this six-toed cat who learned so many tricks from the human who adopted him.
But my favorite stories are always the ones that involve kids and how they just become attached at the hip with their adoring pets.
Reddit user sympson2612 recently shared photos of his four-year-old son and their adopted cat rescue, Tommy — and it's no wonder why the duo quickly went viral!
Thanks to Tommy, this little boy has learned many important lessons about life — and now knows exactly what he wants to be when he grows up.

A while ago, Reddit user sympson2612 found a stray cat wandering around the deck and yard area around his home.
Without a second thought, the family decided to bring him in and keep him. "We got him his shots, got him neutered, and now he owns every piece of furniture and every person in this house," he said.
They named the cat Tommy. Ever since he became a part of the family, Tommy has formed a special bond with his four-year-old son.
"He is the sweetest, funniest, most patient cat I have ever met," said the proud dad of Tommy's relationship with his son. "We are sold on 'adopting' stray cats from now on!"
Whenever Tommy is getting ready to take a nap during the day, the tyke makes sure to tuck him in. This is his way of telling Tommy that he doesn't have to worry anymore about being on the streets and that he has a loving home forever.
Tommy had to visit the vet one day. When he returned home, the youngster wanted to make sure that he was well cared for.
Dad had taught his son about what a veterinarian does and even brought him to the hospital to let him see firsthand how Tommy would be treated. Tommy has inspired his little human to want to become a great vet some day.
Of course, Dad makes sure to be around when his son tucks Tommy in to sleep — and, sometimes, even joins him in a nice little nap!
We love that this cat has now found his forever home and that he is greatly loved by his family.
