First-Grader Finds Out His Best Friend Has Cancer. What He Did Next Will Completely Touch Your Heart.

When first grader Zac Gossage was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a rapidly progressing cancer of the white blood cells, he showed the world he was tough as nails.

Not only did he rarely miss a day of school while going through treatment, but he also never missed a playdate with his best friend Vincent Butterfield.

When Vincent found out about Zac's diagnosis and that he was most likely going to lose all his hair, he knew he had to do something. Not only did Vincent start selling his mother's homemade scarves to raise money for the medical bills – he ended up raising over $200 – but he also had a surprise in store for his best friend.

One school day Vincent walked into class with a stocking cap on his head, when his teacher asked what it was for, sweet Vincent pulled off the cap to reveal that he had shaved his head in solidarity to his best friend.

Vincent, who calls his friendship with Zac "a beautiful thing" is wise beyond his years and the perfect example of what a good friend truly is.
