Baseball-Obsessed Little Boy Has No Idea He’s Playing Against His All-Time Favorite Hero

Children have wonderful imaginations, and it’s beautiful to see them come to life. One little boy’s precious imagination and genuine love for “America’s favorite pastime” led him to play a pretend baseball game — but in real life with a famous pitcher!

While the little boy and his mom were playing outside, they came across Oakland Athletics pitcher Sean Doolittle and his girlfriend, Eireann Dolan, walking their dog Stella. The adorable dog caught the little boy’s attention. So he approached the couple and inquired about Stella’s A’s bandana around her neck.

Unaware that the dog’s owner was a professional baseball player, the little boy told them how much he loved baseball. He even invited the A's All-Star reliever to play a pretend game of baseball with him, and he accepted!

Despite recovering from a shoulder injury that took him off the field since last month, Fox 29 reports, Doolittle didn’t let the little boy down. He threw a couple pretend pitches — including one strike and one where the little boy knocked it out of the park!

The little boy then gleefully took a “victory lap around his imaginary bases!” Too cute!

We’ve seen strong bonds form over baseball and wonderful memories made, like the time when another young boy was left speechless when his soldier brother surprised him at his baseball game, or the young boy who broke down when his dad surprised him with a baseball bat for his birthday.
