She Wears A Yellow Wig And A Flower Headband. When I Learned Why? I Was FLOORED…

An amazing thing about the internet is its ability to share the stories of so many young people who’ve overcome unthinkable odds.

If you’re a regular LittleThings reader, you likely remember us sharing a story recently of a little boy named Jonathan Pitre from Russell, Ontario — who’s better known as “The Butterfly Child.” Pitre suffers from a rare genetic skin condition called epidermolysis bullosa (EB), sometimes referred to as “the worst condition you’ve never heard of.” Despite Pitre’s excruciating day-to-day suffering, he’s an inspiration for his unwavering faith in humanity and his passion for all things sports.

The below video is no exception to this narrative of perseverance despite all odds. Eleven-year-old Katelyn Payne lost all of her blonde hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows after being diagnosed with a condition called alopecia, which results in hair loss, when she was 2 years old. While this would most certainly be traumatic for anyone — especially a young girl — Payne refused to let her condition bring her down. She began modeling all sorts of funky hairdos after the styles of her favorite pop icons in order to inspire other sufferers of her condition. In fact, she was recently recruited for a modeling contract with a wig company who’d heard her inspirational story and decided to honor her with an ad campaign. This little one certainly proves that inner strength can combat even the toughest hurdles.
